How to submit briefs for the calendar page

Local briefs is a summary of events and programs held in the Diocese of Superior. Parishes and organizations are asked to submit event notices via email, fax or postal mail by Wednesday noon, the week before the publication date. Lenten soup kitchen, Chetek
St. Boniface Parish, Chetek, Wednesdays during Lent, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lenten soup kitchen serving homemade soup, breadsticks, crackers and a light dessert.
The schedule is: March 29 – tortellini soup; April 4 – chili. Cost: Freewill donation. 715-924-3514.
Proceeds will be donated to the family of Deputy Sheriff Dan Glaze.

Lenten fish dinners, Ladysmith
The Knights of Columbus will hold a Lenten fish dinner, 4:30-6:30 p.m. each Friday, running weekly, through April 14, at Our Lady of Sorrows, Ladysmith.
The menu includes baked or deep fried fish, baked potato or French fries, rolls, coleslaw, cake, milk or coffee. Cost: $9 for adults; $6 for children. 715-532-6880.

Lenten fish dinners, Superior
St. Anthony, Superior will hold Lenten fish dinners 4:30-7 p.m. Friday, March 31 and each Friday through April 14.
The menu consists of baked or fried fish, mashed or baked potatoes, coleslaw, vegetable, rolls, beverage and dessert. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children 12 and under; preschoolers eat free. Cathedral School will also have a bake sale. 715-398-3261.

Our Lady of the Lake, Ashland, Friday, March 31, 4-7 p.m. The Ashland Knights of Columbus will host an all-you-can-eat Lenten dinner. Menu features Lake Superior whitefish. Cost: $12 for adults; $6 for children ages 6-11; children ages 5 and under eat free. 715-682-9621.

Lenten fish dinners, Phillips
The Knights of Columbus Council 2963 will hold a fish fry, 4:30-6:30 p.m. each Friday through Lent, at St. Therese of Lisieux, Phillips.
The menu includes baked or battered fish, baked potato, coleslaw, rolls, milk, coffee and dessert. Cost: $6 for 1-piece dinner; $8 for 2-piece dinner; $11 for 3-piece dinner; $12 for 4-piece. 715-339-2222.

Smelt Fry, Rhinelander
Nativity of Our Lord North Building, Rhinelander, Friday, March 31, 4-8 p.m. An all-you-can eat battered smelt fry or boiled shrimp plate. Menu includes potato salad, coleslaw, and bread. Desserts available.  Paddle wheel and prizes.  Cost:  $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 to 12.

Rummage sale, Bruce
St. Mary Parish, Bruce, Saturday, April 1, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Annual spring rummage and bake sale. Lunch available for purchase 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu includes homemade soups, pies and barbecue. 715-868-6878.

Dinner, Cameron
St. Peter Church, Cameron, Sunday, April 2, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Annual spring turkey dinner. Divine Mercy Sunday, Dobie
Our Lady of Lourdes, Dobie, Sunday, April 23. Divine Mercy Sunday celebration. The day will include Eucharistic adoration, benediction, veneration of the image. The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will be present. Due to limited time and availability of priests, we request that, if possible, reconciliation be received in your own parish prior to Divine Mercy Sunday, which satisfies the requirement for the Plenary Indulgence. Partners 4 Hope Tanzania, a Catholic nonprofit in Stillwater,Minnesota, is holding “Concert for Hope” with Audrey Assad, Sunday, May 7, 2 p.m., at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul. Proceeds benefit the Water-4-LifeProject, which provides safe and clean water sources for the people of Bwambo Village, Tanzania.
