Four diocesan parishes sent youths to participate in this year’s Steubenville Youth Conference in Rochester, Minnesota.

Bishop James P. Powers joined teens from Medford, Rhinelander, Rice Lake and Spooner and their leaders at the event July 14-16.

Each summer, the Franciscan University of Steubenville provides engaging youth conferences across the United States and in Canada.

These Steubenville Youth Conferences reach teens to help them encounter the person of Christ through the Mass, Eucharistic adoration, praise and worship, dynamic talks, and fellowship with other Catholic youths.

Bishop Powers attended the conference and was present for the teens throughout the weekend. He heard many teens’ confessions, and he also was the main celebrant for the Saturday Mass, said Laura Schissel, youth minister at St. Joseph.

Seth Kurzynski, Rice Lake, spent the week prior to the Rochester conference at LEAD (Leadership, Evangelization and Discipleship), a weeklong, sacrament-soaked high school leadership camp.

Other diocesan parishes attended the Steubenville Youth Conference in different locations as well.
