Marywood Spirituality Center will facilitate a pilgrimage Tuesday, Sept. 18, with multiple stops.
The day will facilitate a journey of religious and cultural exchange to promote greater understanding of and appreciation for both Native American and Franciscan heritages and their contributions to the faith in Northern Wisconsin.
Franciscan Fr. Frank Kordek will present at Our Lady of Sorrows in Hurley. The group will then hear from Sr. Phyllis Wilhelm, OSF, at St. Mary’s in Odanah and stop at the Visitors Center south of Ashland. A native meal will be served in Red Cliff, accompanied by presentations from Sr. Kathy Salewski, OSF, Deacon Roger Cadotte and Fr. Kevin Gordon. The final stop will be at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Ashland to hear from Sr. Peggy Kacvinsky, OSF, and local alumni.
Motor coach transportation will be provided with pick-ups and drop-offs in Wausau, Tomahawk, Woodruff and at Marywood. The cost is $70 per person. Register by Sept. 10 at www.marywoodsc.org or by calling 715-385-3750.
Participants are encouraged to prepare for the pilgrimage with a deep sense of spirituality as well as doing pre-reading about Native American history, especially the Ojibwa heritage, which is the predominant population in Northern Wisconsin.
