Local briefs is a summary of events and programs held in the Diocese of Superior. Parishes and organizations are asked to submit event notices via email, fax or postal mail by Wednesday noon, the week before the publication date. Aug. 10
Golf tournament,Eagle River
St. Peter the Fisherman, Eagle River, will hold “‘Fore!’ our Youth,” a golfing tournament fundraiser to benefit parish youth faith formation programs. The tournament will be held Monday, Aug. 10, at Eagle River Golf Course. Check-in will start at 7 a.m., followed by instruction, announcements and blessing at 7:40 a.m. A shotgun start for the four-person teams will be 8 a.m. Lunch is at 1 p.m. Cost is $400 per team. Aug. 15
Garage sale, Phillips
St. Therese of Lisieux, Phillips, will hold a garage and brat sale in the parish parking lot, Aug. 15, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Many bag sale items. COVID-19 guidelines apply. 715-339-2222.

Sept. 12
National Day of Remembrance, Phillips
A National Day of Remembrance for aborted children will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Hwy. W, in Phillips, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. This day commemorates the burial of abortion victims found in Milwaukee 25 years ago. The day will include praying and singing. All denominations are invited. This is an outside event that allows for spreading out to socially distance. For more information, call 715-339-4632.

Totus Tuus canceled
Due to COVID-19 exposure of two missionaries, Totus Tuus was cancelled for the summer of 2020. Office of Catholic Formation Director Peggy Schoenfuss made the announcement July 9.

Youth events moved to spring
Diocesan youth rallies scheduled for October in River Falls and Tomahawk have been moved to the spring. New dates have not been released.
