How to submit briefs for the calendar page

Local briefs is a summary of events and programs held in the Diocese of Superior. Parishes and organizations are asked to submit event notices via email, fax or postal mail by Wednesday noon, the week before the publication date. April 5
Lenten fish dinners, Medford
Knights of Columbus hold a Lenten shrimp and fish dinner, 4-7:30 p.m., at Holy Rosary, Medford. Menu includes baked and battered fish, deep-fried shrimp, seasoned potato wedges, potato salad, green beans, coleslaw, bread, desserts, Kool-Aid, coffee and milk. Beer and soda available for purchase. Cost: $12 for adults; $5 for ages 5-11; preschoolers eat free. Carryouts $12. 715-748-3336, ext. 247.

Lenten fish dinners, Phillips
Knights of Columbus Council 2963 hold a fish fry, 4:30-6:30 p.m. each Friday through Lent, at St. Therese of Lisieux, Phillips. Menu includes baked or battered fish, baked potato, coleslaw, rolls, milk, coffee and dessert. Cost: $6 for one-piece dinner; $8 for two pieces; $10 for three pieces; $12 for four. 715-339-2222. Fish fry, Superior
St. Anthony Parish, Superior, holds Lenten fish fries every Friday during Lent, 4:30-7 p.m. Menu includes fried or baked fish, mashed or baked potato, coleslaw, vegetable, pickled beets, roll, dessert and beverage. Cost: $10 for adults; $5 for students; preschoolers eat free. Parish is handicapped accessible. 715-398-3261.

April 6
Rummage sale, Bruce
St. Mary Parish, Bruce, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Annual spring rummage and bake sale. Most items are 10 cents. Lunch available for purchase, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu includes homemade soups, pies and barbecue. 715-532-3051.

Quilt event, Rice Lake
The St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women hosts the 12th annual Quilt Event, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the St. Joseph school gym. Entry forms for quilts and projects can be found at www.stjosephricelake.com. Event includes door prizes, and raffles. Admission is $5. Spring turkey dinner, Cameron
St. Peter, Cameron, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Annual spring turkey dinner. Menu includes grilled turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade dressing, glazed baby carrots, coleslaw, cranberries, dinner rolls, milk, lemonade, coffee and homemade pies.

Spring meeting, Osceola
Catholic Order of Foresters, 9 a.m. Annual spring meeting of the Northwest District will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Members, their families and guests are invited. 612-396-4239.

April 12
Fish fry, Land O’Lakes
St. Albert, Land O’Lakes, will hold its annual all-you-can-eat fish fry, 5 to 7 p.m. Menu includes broiled or deep-fried fish, baked beans, potato salad, rye bread, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Beer, wine and soda available at extra cost. Carryouts available. Cost is $12 for ages 12 and older; $6 for ages 6-11. Pie sale, Minong
The Tri-parish of St. Pius X, Solon Springs; St. Anthony, Gordon; and St. Mary, Minong, will hold an Easter pie sale, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the foyer of Henson’s grocery store. There will also be a pie raffle. 612-670-8541.

Divine Mercy, Hayward

Divine Mercy Sunday, Dobie
Our Lady of Lourdes, Dobie. Divine Mercy Sunday celebration. The day will include Eucharistic adoration, benediction, veneration of the image, rosary, chaplet, and readings from the diary. The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will be present. Due to limited time and availability of priests, we request that, if possible, reconciliation be received in your own parish prior to Divine Mercy Sunday, which satisfies the requirement for the Plenary Indulgence. Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior, hold their annual chicken dinner, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Menu includes baked chicken, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, coleslaw, dinner rolls and beverage, along with a selection of desserts. Our Lady of the Lakes, Balsam Lake, hosts a Blue Mass, 6 p.m., to honor firemen, policemen, EMTs and all others who answer the call when needed. A Blessing of Emergency Vehicles and Badges will take place in the parking lot after the Mass, followed by a picnic supper. Reservations appreciated. Teaching conference, Cameron
The Diocese of Superior Charismatic Core Team will offer a Spring Teaching Conference, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Cameron. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The day will include a video keynote address by Fr. Michael Becker, workshops, praise and worship, benediction and lunch.
