How to submit briefs for the calendar page

Local briefs is a summary of events and programs held in the Diocese of Superior. Parishes and organizations are asked to submit event notices via email, fax or postal mail by Wednesday noon, the week before the publication date. Bake sale, Haugen
The ladies of Holy Trinity Church, Haugen, host a large bake sale at the village hall, 7-11 a.m., during Haugen Fun Days. Featured items include kolaches, T-rings and more. 715-234-2032.

Knights of Columbus 9608 hold a bingo day on Main Street, Rib Lake, during the Ice Age festivities, at 1 p.m. 715-427-5259.

Aug. 11
Parish festival, Balsam Lake
Our Lady of the Lakes, Balsam Lake, hold its annual parish festival, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Country store, basket raffle, silent auction, meat raffle, beer garden, bingo, and dinner. The menu features chicken and/or barbecue ribs, potatoes, corn on the cob, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. 715-405-2253.

Bazaar, Gilman
Ss. Peter and Paul, Gilman, holds an annual bazaar. Mass is at 9 a.m., followed by a buffet-style dinner, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The meal includes oven-fired chicken, Polish sausage and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, green beans, rolls, pie, coffee, milk and more. Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Strickland, holds its annual chicken dinner, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Outdoor Mass at 10 a.m., weather permitting. Bring a chair. Aug 18
Family fun/dinner, Lake Nebagamon
St. Anthony, Lake Nebagamon, holds a family fun day and roast pork dinner, noon to 3 p.m. Menu includes roast pork, scalloped potatoes, sweet corn, relish, rolls and butter, homemade desserts, coffee, ice tea, water. Tickets are $10, available at the church office after Mass and at the door. Children’s menu for ages 10 and younger includes hot dogs, chips and drink. Cost is $5. 715-374-3570.

Summer fest, Tony

Breakfast, Phillips

Polka Mass and dinner, Weyerhaeuser

Ham and meatloaf dinner, Pattison Park
St. William, Pattison Park, holds its annual ham and meatloaf dinner, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Country garden, bake sale and silent auction. Program, Eagle River
St. Peter the Fisherman, Eagle River, hosts “Mass Confusion,” presented by national Catholic comedic catechist Doug Brummel and musician and songwriter Dave Wilson. Starting at 6 p.m., “Mass Confusion” will bring the Mass alive through sketches, characterizations and Holy Spirit-filled music.
