How to submit briefs for the calendar page

Local briefs is a summary of events and programs held in the Diocese of Superior. Parishes and organizations are asked to submit event notices via email, fax or postal mail by Wednesday noon, the week before the publication date. St. Anthony, Superior, has postponed their five-course spring tea luncheon. Originally scheduled for May 2, as soon as a new date is set it will be announced. 715-398-3261.

Fish fry, Superior
St. Anthony, Superior, holds Lenten fish fries every Friday during Lent, 4:30-7 p.m. Menu includes fried or baked fish, mashed or baked potato, coleslaw, vegetable, pickled beets, roll, dessert and beverage. Cost: $10 for adults; $5 for students; preschoolers eat free. Parish is handicapped accessible. 715-398-3261.

Lenten fish fry, Amery
St. Joseph, Amery, holds Lenten fish fries, 4:30-7 p.m. each Friday during March and April 3. Menu includes deep-fried battered cod, baked cod, potato, vegetable, coleslaw, buns, macaroni and cheese and dessert. Refreshments include coffee, milk, lemonade. Beer is available for purchase. Cost is $11; $10 for ages 65 and older; $5 for ages 6-12; ages 5 and younger eat free. Maximum $35 per family. Event is hosted by the Apple River Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph parish volunteers. 715-268-7717.

Lenten fish fry, Ladysmith
The Knights of Columbus hold Lenten fish fries, 4:30-6:30 p.m., every Friday during Lent, at Our Lady of Sorrows, Ladysmith. Menu includes baked or deep-fried fish, baked potato or French fries, rolls, coleslaw, cake, milk or coffee. 715-532-6880.

Fish fry, Glenwood City
St. John the Baptist, Glenwood City, 5-7 p.m. Fish fry. Menu includes baked and fried fish, scalloped potatoes, green beans, coleslaw and bars. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for ages 5 to 10; younger than 5 eat free. 715-265-7133.

Lenten fish dinner, Medford
Knights of Columbus hold a Lenten shrimp and fish dinner, 4-7:30 p.m., at Holy Rosary, Medford, in the social hall. Cost is $12 for ages 12 and older; $5 for ages 5-11; preschoolers eat free. Carryouts are $12. 715-748-3336.

St. Patrick’s Day, Erin Prairie
St. Patrick, Erin Prairie, holds its annual St. Patrick Day corned beef and cabbage dinner, after the 11 a.m. Mass. RSVP to 715-246-5176.

Soup dinner/worship, Three Lakes

Retreat, Marathon

Lenten retreat, Three Lakes
St. Theresa, Three Lakes, holds a Lenten retreat, “Lord Prepare Me,” from 9 a.m. to noon, led by Fr. Kevin Farrell, Fr. Allam and Fr. Ron Serrao. Exposition, adoration, a presentation by Fr. Lenten retreat, Grantsburg
St. Dominic, Frederic, and Immaculate Conception, Grantsburg, will host two Lenten retreats. “Food for the Journey – Unlocking the Secrets of the Eucharist,” led by Fr. James Brinkman, is a Lenten retreat for adults, junior and high school students. The retreat will be held at St. Dominic in Frederic, 12:30 p.m., and conclude with Mass at 4:30 pm.
Children in grade six and below are invited to spend the afternoon learning about service to each other while enjoying games, crafts, music and fun. Registration is requested for adults and youth to help with planning for snacks and materials. 715-327-8119.

End of life seminar, Medford
Holy Rosary, Medford, 10 a.m. Dr. Tim Jessick, palliative medicine physician from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, will speak about palliative care and hospice care, what they are, myths and facts, and answer questions about healthcare at the end of life with a Catholic perspective.
