Local briefs is a summary of events and programs held in the Diocese of Superior. Parishes and organizations are asked to submit event notices via email, fax or postal mail by Wednesday noon, the week before the publication date. Former abortionist Dr. Haywood Robinson will speak in Duluth, Monday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Hot dish dinner, Hammond
The St. Mary’s Women’s Guild, Hammond, hosts their annual nationality hot dish supper, 4:30-6 p.m. Assorted hot dishes, salads, rolls, pies and beverages All are invited. Freewill offerings accepted. 715-796-2244.

Italian supper, Wilson

Anniversary celebration, Rhinelander
The Knights of Columbus Macdonald-O’Neill Council 2032 will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of its charter. Bishop James P. Powers will celebrate a Mass at 4:30 p.m., at Nativity of Our Lord, Rhinelander. Festivities include a social hour, buffet banquet and program following the Mass at the Cabaret Cove. Bake and craft sale, Minong
The Tri-parish of St. Pius X, Solon Springs; St. Anthony, Gordon; and St. Mary, Minong, will hold a baked goods and craft sale at Henson’s Country Store, Minong, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 612-670-8541.

Harvest dinner, Washburn
The Knights of Columbus 6702, Washburn, sponsor their annual ham and meatball dinner at St. Louis Catholic Church, 5-7 p.m.
Menu includes seasonal vegetables, bread, beverage and homemade desserts. The cost is $12 for adults; $5 for youths; younger than 5 eat free. Proceeds go to local charity and church needs. 715-373-2676.

Fall festival, Erin Prairie
St. Patrick, Erin Prairie, holds a fall festival. Mass at 11 a.m. featuring the Erin Prairie Folk Group, followed by a roast turkey dinner. Activities include raffles, themed baskets, fish pond, cakewalk and bake sale. 715-246-4652.

Fall bazaar/dinner, Rice Lake

St. Joseph, Rice Lake, holds its annual fall bazaar, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Family-style roast beef dinner served 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for ages 6-10; $10 and $6 at the door.Tickets can be purchased before and after all Masses. Day includes silent auction, country store, goodies galore, cake walk, basket raffles, CCW gift shop, kids’ fall fest in the church basement. 715-234-2032.

Stewardship seminar, Medford

Oct. 25
Variety show/dinner, Cumberland
St. Anthony Council of Catholic Women, Cumberland, hosts a fall variety show and dinner, 5:30 p.m., in the Father Fraher Hall in the parish center. Dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Evening includes live entertainment acts with local artists and musicians, chance tickets and prizes. Call the church office for tickets, 715-822-2948. Tickets are $15 for adults; $5 for ages 10 and younger. Proceeds benefit the “Grow Our Faith Community” initiative.

Fall retreat, Cameron
The Superior Diocesan Council of Catholic Women hosts a fall retreat, “We Come to Do Your Will,” at St. Peter’s Church, Cameron.
Danielle Hendricks will share her expertise on how today’s Catholic women can live their faith and fulfill God’s great commission.
