An organization that serves low-income Latinos in Lincoln County has received a $40,000 renewable grant from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Comunidad Hispana organizes events and connects Latino residents with legal and financial assistance and other services. The Holy Cross Sisters led the effort to form the organization in 2004, and it served local Latinos until 2012, when funding ran out. The new grant is renewable for six years. According to the Merrill Focus, about 1.2 percent of Lincoln County’s population is Latino.
