Describe your faith community
“We are an aging community, however, we are alive and well. We heed growth, i.e., young people and young families with children.  The Sunday Mass census generally ranges between 25-35 worshippers. Only one weekend Mass is celebrated 11 a.m. Sunday. A first Sunday Mass is offered during the warmer months. The rosary is said before Mass during May and October. The Way of the Cross is followed during Lent. Our choir consists of four to five members. We do not have a deacon but we do have a lay leader of prayer. We strive to be a welcoming community of faith.”

“When visitors come to our parish they will …”
” … discover a very traditional looking interior and exterior to our building. Although traditionally Catholic, our interior is not overly ornate. An aged and deteriorating roof condition has necessitated the institution of a somewhat unique fundraising effort called ‚”Loaves and Fishes” from the Bible account of the same name. Upon being provided with a small stipend, parishioners are asked to multiply it in any way imaginable. Anyone wishing to contribute to this effort can send donations to St. Anne Building Fund, Most Holy Rosary Parish, P.O. Box 17, Mellen, WI 54546.”

In what ways does your parish proclaim the Gospel with its actions?
“Collectively, the parish assembles food items for the local food shelf. Individually, parish members donate time and talent to the senior meal site in Sanborn, the BRICK Ministries in Ashland and Faith In Action, in Ashland. Members also volunteer and contribute money for our local Special Olympics agency, as well as serving on the boards of agencies which benefit the disabled and disadvantaged.”

What is something about your parish most people might not know?
* We have an array of southern orientated solar panels that supplement our heating system.
* We have a dartball team that competes in a league with seven other local churches.
* We have a cemetery to the rear of our church, as well as a parish house that was a former rectory.
* We have been a part of the Sanborn community for 133 years!
