Despite blizzard conditions in Washington, D.C., 30 representatives from the board of directors on the National Council of Catholic Women, including Lucille Brandner, attended the group’s board meeting and participated in the 43rd annual March for Life Jan. 22.
Brandner, a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, Medford, represented the NCCW’s Milwaukee Province.
On Jan. 21, board members attended the opening Mass for the Prayer Vigil for Life celebrated by New York Cardinal Archbishop Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
According to NCCW president Sheila Hopkins, “NCCW stands in solidarity with all people of good will who believe in the sanctity of life and we join together in prayer for an end to abortion and to the social and cultural conditions that cause women to see it as their only option.”
