“Our faith community is located in rural Douglas County, one mile from Pattison State Park and Manitou Falls, with a parishioner base consisting of many families with roots back to the time when St. William was first established as St. Aloysius in 1908.”
“When visitors come to our parish, they will …
… notice the beautiful lawn and trees that surround our church. It is truly a picturesque setting. We welcome all visitors with a smile and they will also be very pleased with our wonderful choir. Our church is handicap accessible and the interior is open with natural accents. Our church has a parish hall and rectory attached.
In what way(s), does your parish proclaim the Gospel with its actions?
“We encourage our parishioners and visitors to participate in our ‘hospitality and fellowship’ (refreshments furnished by our parishioners and conversation) after Mass.
We are very generous in helping people in need with donations to the food shelves generated at our Hunter’s Mass and St. Vincent de Paul Society ongoing food collections.
Our Christmas mitten tree is supported by many annually. First Communion students participate in honoring Mary at the May crowning.
We are known for our pasties and delicious annual ham and meatloaf dinner, which has been held for 58 years.
We are fortunate to have many people of our parish involved in these fundraisers. We are also blessed with our parishioners who volunteer to help augment funeral meals/refreshments by bringing a variety of prepared foods.”
What is something about your parish most people might not know?
“We have been fortunate to have priests residing in our rectory since 1963 and were blessed by having Bishop Raphael Fliss reside here from 1980-1985 while serving as coadjutor bishop of Superior.”
