Holy Rosary hosts organ concert
Holy Rosary, Medford, will host a free organ dedication concert with Kraig Windschitl, concert organist and church musician, at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 7.
Windschitl, who has been principal organist of the largest Lutheran congregation in the world, will showcase the versatile Rodgers organ through organ classics and traditional hymns.
A graduate of the Perpich School, Saint John’s University and Indiana University, Windschitl was the first American to be granted artist-in-residence at the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem, Israel.
“Sounds from the Sepulchre,” Windschitl’s recording of the three Supulchre organs, a collaboration with the Franciscans of the Holy Land, will be available after the concert.
World Day of Prayer for Vocations
The World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be celebrated May 7. Pope Francis has prepared a personal message for this occasion. In it, he reminds Catholics: “There can be no promotion of vocations or Christian mission apart from constant contemplative prayer. The Christian life needs to be nourished by attentive listening to God’s word and, above all, by the cultivation of a personal relationship with the Lord in Eucharistic adoration, the privileged ‘place’ for our encounter with God.” He goes on to encourage “parish communities, associations and the many prayer groups present in the Church, not to yield to discouragement but to continue praying that the Lord will send workers to his harvest.”
