Year parish was established: St. Michael’s, Kennan (1901); Sacred Heart, Catawba (1908) combined to form St. Paul the Apostle in 1970.

Describe your faith community
Our parish is a vibrant multi-generation parish with many members engaged in Bible studies, special devotions, religious education, prayer with shut-ins, benefits for community members, parish dinners and potlucks, Council of Catholic Women, choir, liturgy committee, youth group, pro-life organization, finance council, evangelization, ecumenical activities and other volunteer projects by which parishioners live out their faith in service to the parish and the church.

… be warmly greeted so they feel welcomed and included as part of the parish community when they attend Mass and other liturgies and events.
Because St. Paul’s is the largest and most handicapped-accessible church/hall facility in the area, we have welcomed other congregations to use it when they need more space for funeral services.
How does your parish proclaim the Gospel with its actions?
In addition to some of the already noted activities, our parish hosts a St. Vincent de Paul food pantry that serves the entire county, (it is an outreach of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Phillips.) We have a Human Concerns Committee that provides Christmas baskets and donates money to people with medical expenses, emergency needs, fires and disasters.
We support Knights of Columbus activities and recognize and honor parish members at baptism, first Communion, confirmation and high school graduation.
What is something about your parish most people might not know?
In 2010, many members of the parish volunteered to help renovate the church interior by refinishing and reupholstering the pews and kneelers, repainting the walls and putting down new carpeting. The beautiful results are further enhanced by lovely seasonal floral and liturgical décor.
