March for Life
Twenty-eight youths and chaperones from the Diocese of Superior will travel to Washington D.C. for the 2018 March for Life. The 45th annual rally and March is Friday, Jan. 19; the group will first travel to Eau Claire, where they will be bused with Catholics from the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Parishioners from Superior, Rhinelander, Clear Lake, Hayward and Medford are attending this year, including six new freshmen. Bishop James P. Powers will send off the pilgrims at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior. All are welcome to attend.
Indulgence for March
Plenary indulgences can be obtained by those who take part in the March for Life, go to confession, take communion and pray for Pope Francis’ intentions, the bishop of Arlington and archbishop of Washington announced to fellow bishops in a Dec. 20 letter. Those unable to attend due to illness, age or inability to leave home will also be able to obtain an indulgence. The March is Jan. 18-19 in Washington D.C.
Charismatic seminar
The Diocesan Charismatic Renewal group will be gathering for the Life in the Spirit Seminar Saturday, Jan. 27, from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. All are welcome to join in prayer, music, talks, reflection, reconciliation and Mass at St. Bridget Church, River Falls. World Day of the Sick
World Day of the Sick is sponsored by the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care and has been celebrated since 1992 on the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. This celebration is a reminder to pray for all those who are sick and to recognize and honor those who work in healthcare and those who serve as caregivers.
Rite of Election
The Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion for those entering or coming into full communion with the Catholic Church always falls on the First Sunday of Lent. It will be celebrated by Bishop James P. Powers at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior.
