Promoting interracial harmony was the goal of a community event held Saturday, Aug. 20, in Wausau. Comunidad Hispana, a Catholic Campaign for Human Development-funded organization that serves low-income Latinos in Lincoln County, was a sponsor of “Together We Heal.” The event included inspirational speakers, ethnic foods, face-painting and musical performances. Last year in Wausau, a 15-year-old Hmong boy stabbed a 13-year-old Hispanic boy, who later died. “We all need to heal,” said Lillie Coburn, an organizer with Comunidad Hispana and a parishioner at St. Francis Xavier, Merrill. Her daughter, Susie Coburn, is the artist who painted faces. (Submitted photo)
