btlogoGrant-funded technology updates at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, have been completed.

Holy Cross Sr. Peggy Jackelen, former administrator of the assisted living facility, applied for and received a $125,000 grant from the Bierman Family Foundation for updates to Assisi Hall, built by the sisters in 1946 and used as a chapel.

The grant paid for chairs and the installation of air conditioning, acoustical panels and state-of-the-art technology, including a projector, recessed automated projector screen, video and sound system.

Completion of the project took about one-and-a-half years.

Assisi Hall also received a new roof, tuck-pointing, carpeting and draperies in recent years. The stained glass windows were also refurbished and the room was painted. Those $165,000 updates were funded by the Holy Cross Sisters.
