Holy Family Catholic Church, Woodruff, along with pastor Fr. Aaron Devett, will welcome the award-winning North Star Boys Choir of Minneapolis for a performance Palm Sunday, March 25.
The concert is at 1:30 p.m. There is no cost, but a freewill offering will be taken.
The 18-member choir, under the direction of Francis Stockwell, has performed nationally and internationally.
In 2012, the choir traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, to compete with 360 choirs from around the world. The choir was awarded the silver medal in the Children’s Choir category and a bronze medal in the Barbershop category, where it competed against well-established adult choirs.
In 2013, the choir traveled to Germany, Austria and Italy, performing in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Windsbach and Suhl, Germany; St. Florian and Graz, Austria; Rome and Venice, Italy; and many other cities. Following the European tour, the choir toured its home state of Minnesota, Wisconsin and many states out West. Last summer, the choir performed aboard a paddlewheel riverboat for audiences in cities along the Mississippi River.
Following the March 25 concert, everyone is invited to a free reception in the church dining area, courtesy of the Secular Franciscans and Holy Family parishioners. Memorabilia and CDs will also be available for purchase.
