P2.BlanketMinistry.0630

The blanket ministry at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior, made its 100th blanket Tuesday, May 10. Between six and eight women join the group after Mass every other Tuesday in Kress Hall; afterward, blankets are donated to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society for distribution in the community. When the ministry started two and a half years ago, the blanket-makers were donating fleece, said Jewell Rankila, right. Now, they host an annual bake sale to fund the project, “so that’s what’s been buying the fleece for us,” she said. They make blankets for all ages; here, the group stands around a Strawberry Shortcake blanket. Donations of fleece (minimum 2 yards) or money for the ministry can be left at the rectory.
