A book on the history of the Holy Cross Sisters, “The Living Love of Christ Among Us: The Triumph of the Cross,” is available for purchase.
This third installment of the community’s history covers 1938 to 1991 and focuses on those European provinces under German control during World War II and communist control in the post-war period.
Sr. Barbara Misner, a member of the Holy Cross Sisters USA Province, researched and wrote the first two installments, but she grew ill in the late 1990s and was unable to finish the third installment.
After Sr. Barbara’s death in June 2013, Sr. Ann Wittman was asked to complete the project.
“I felt greatly responsible, and, in a sense, privileged, to be asked to finish Sr. Barbara’s work. I only hope I have done justice to what she planned as a further revelation of the spirit and mission of the Holy Cross Sisters,” Sr. Ann said.
