Pageant in Eagle River

Seventy-seven first- through eighth-grade Faith Formation students from St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Eagle River, will perform their annual Christmas Pageant at 5 p.m. Dec. 20. Seminarian to be ordained a deacon

Richard Rhinehart, a seminarian for the Diocese of Superior, will be ordained to the transitional diaconate by Bishop James P. Powers on Sunday, Dec. 17, at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, Eagle River. The Mass is at 2 p.m. Rhinehart’s ordination to the priesthood is set for Sunday, June 24, at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior.

Embezzler sentenced

Michelle Blake, 37, Webster, was sentenced Dec. 4 in Burnett County Court for felony theft. Blake, who pleaded no contest to the charge, embezzled more than $70,000 from 2010 to 2013 while serving as the bookkeeper for parishes in Crescent Lake, Danbury and Webster. She was sentenced to five years’ probation, sentence withheld; one year in local jail with work-release privileges; and ordered to pay court fees plus $25,729.73 in restitution to the parishes. She is to have no contact with the churches.
