Katelyn Baier, an alumnus of St. Patrick School Catholic School, Hudson, was selected as a 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholar.
Presidential scholars are chosen based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. Each scholar was offered the opportunity to name his or her most influential teacher; Baier chose St. Patrick middle school government and social studies teacher Rick DuBois, who, in her words, “ignited a spark to learn and always do my best. He taught us that by working hard, we could achieve anything. It was in his class that I really learned to dedicate myself to school.” In the photo, Baier and DuBois stand with Bishop Peter Christensen.
