The Holy Cross Sisters and Associates recently presented a check for $1,000 to help the Habitat Home homeless shelter in Merrill. On hand to accept the check from Sr. Pat Cormack, provincial of the Holy Cross Sisters, and associate Carol Mancl were Michael Ravn, president of the Merrill Community Homeless Center, Inc. board of directors, and secretary Dee Olsen.

The Holy Cross Associates raised $500 from their homemade candy table at the Bell Tower Residence Craft Fair in November in Merrill. Bell Tower Residence is an assisted-living facility sponsored by the Holy Cross Sisters. This year, they chose the Habitat Home homeless shelter as the recipient of the funds, and they challenged the Holy Cross Sisters to match their gift, which the sisters did.

Work is underway at 407 W. Main St. for the shelter. To support the project, mail donations to Habitat Home, P.O. Box 324, Merrill, WI 54452. For more information, visit www.holycrosssisters.org.
