In response to the castrophic devastation wrought by Hurricane Harvey, the Diocese of Superior is launching an emergency appeal to assist victims.
Bishop James P. Powers has asked parishes from across northern Wisconsin to initiate the special collection within the next two weeks.
“Our hearts go out to the families that have lost a loved one and all who have lost their homes and belongings,” said Bishop Powers. “Prayer, as well as financial support, are urgently needed.”
The Diocese will forward relief funds to Catholic Charities USA. The organization coordinates relief operations as part of the church’s response to disasters affecting the United States.
Other special appeals undertaken by the Diocese of Superior raised $377,000 to assist victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and more than $195,000 to aid tsunami-hit Indonesia.
