Describe your faith community
“Our faith community consists of three groups — the core group of permanent, full-time residents, summer residents, and tourists. Though uniquely different, these groups blend into a loyal, faith-filled and loving community, sharing the beauties and traditions of this beautiful city on Lake Superior and caring for each other. Members and staff willingly share the history of the parish and the area.”

“When visitors come to our parish, they will …
“… be genuinely welcomed and invited to feel at home by staff and members who take great pride in our sense of hospitality and graciousness. They will also be invited to participate in a prayerful and reflective liturgy.”

In what ways does your parish proclaim the Gospel with its actions?
“The cold, snowy and dark winter days, parish volunteers provide eight weeks of Friday evening Fish Fries. These are great social events for the area, as well as delicious, nutritious meals. Members quietly and efficiently reach out to grieving families, especially at funerals and by providing funeral lunches. Reaching out to the elderly, sick and homebound with visits, phone calls, meals and prayer is another significant and quiet Gospel proclamation. Many parish members serve on local boards and as volunteers in local organizations.”

What is something about your parish most people might not know?
“We have the original sacramental records of Bishop Frederic Baraga dating back to 1835.”
