Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland offers children’s liturgy every Sunday during the 10 a.m. Mass. A volunteer teacher reads the day’s Gospel from the children’s Bible and leads a related lesson and activity. When the initiative started, five to 10 children regularly participated. After two years, 25 or more attend. Anna Richardson, director of religious education for the Ashland Area Catholic Churches, said, “Parents are finding that not only can they get more out of Mass by being less distracted … but their children are also getting more out of Mass and remembering the readings and the message they learned.” To learn more, contact Richardson at 715-682-7620, ext. 115, or .
