A holiday tradition

For 11 years, the Holy Cross Associates have sent Christmas cards to students at Copper Lake/Lincoln Hills School in Irma. More than 160 cards were written for the students by Associates Ceil Bartelt and Carol Mancl; cards will be included in their Christmas gift bags, prepared by the Foster Grandparents Program. “We are carrying on the work that Sr. Benedicta Berger did when she volunteered through the Foster Grandparents Program. It is one way to reach out to the incarcerated youth,” said Russ Mancl, director of communications and a Holy Cross Associate. Sr. Benedicta now resides at Bell Tower Residence Assisted Living, Merrill. Here, Ben Guss sits with Bartelt. (Submitted photo)
