GLOBAL.diocesan shieldLenten retreat at St. Pius X

A Lenten retreat on the paschal mystery – the death and resurrection of the Lord that brings change and growth to us all – will be held Feb. 28 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Solon Springs.

Fr. Andrew Ricci, rector of the Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior, is the guest speaker.

Christians of all denominations, practicing and nonpracticing, are welcome to attend the retreat, which begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Duluth bishop to celebrate Chrism Mass

In the absence of a bishop in the Diocese of Superior, the bishop of the Diocese of Duluth will celebrate the 2015 Chrism Mass.

Bishop Paul Sirba will bless the Oil of Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick and consecrate the Chrism at noon, Tuesday,  March 24, at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior.

The sacred oils, which are used in every parish in the diocese, must be blessed by a bishop.

All are welcome to attend the Mass.

Celebration planned for Fr. Hayden

Fr. Mike Hayden, pastor of parishes in Boulder Junction, Sayner and Presque Isle, celebrates his 30th year in the priesthood in 2015.

Parishioners of St. Anne, St. Mary and St. Rita are hosting a Sunday, March 15, anniversary celebration in his honor. Volunteers from each parish are sought to help plan the event. For information or to volunteer, contact Therese Safford at 715-385-2627 or .
