A jolly, bearded man left an envelope for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at the Catholic Charities building before Christmas.

According to the Dec. 29 bulletin from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Superior, the bulging envelope contained a note:
“Please accept this gift for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The money is from a settlement I recently received and I promised the Lord I would give my first check to the Church for answered prayers. I know you’re doing God’s work and I want to return something to the community and those in need. God bless and keep you always.”

Inside was $3,000, signed “Your friend in Christ.”
