Trainees from seven states attend Level II session
St. Peter the Fisherman in Eagle River hosted the 50th anniversary celebration of the ordination of Fr. Robert Koszarek on Aug. 18. Fr. Ron Serrao, pastor of the parish, said, “Fr. Bob was pastor here for over 20 years; we are happy to have him return for this special jubilee celebration.”

Ordained in 2017, Fr. Samuel Schneider, who was raised in Rhinelander, was sponsored jointly by the Diocese of Superior and the Archdiocese for the Military. After serving as chaplain on a Navy base in Japan, he was assigned as chaplain to a Marine battalion at Camp Pendleton in Southern California.
Hayward priests focus on cultural evangelization
Sunday, Aug. 4, was a day of great rejoicing for the Diocese of Superior. With no ordinations to the permanent diaconate in 2023, four candidates were welcomed into the clergy in 2024 at the Mass of Ordination celebrated by Bishop James P. Powers at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior.
Rice Lake native Kenny Bednarek, whose mother is a member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, won a silver medal in the men’s 200m at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
